Everything to Know About CBD Isolate

Isolate, or pure CBD

CBD isolate is the name for pure CBD extract, typically over 99% pure. During the extraction process, cannabidiol is isolated from all other cannabinoids.

This raw product is presented in the form of crystalline powder. It does not provide the benefits of the other components of hemp.

What is CBD isolate used for?

Unlike CBD broad spectrum or full spectrum, isolate is not typically used on its own. It is most often used to adjust the amount of active material or to create CBD products that do not have the smell and taste of hemp.

CBD isolate can be added to your preparations, oils, beverages, CBD e-liquids, or food.

What quality of CBD to choose?

The choice between pure CBD, full spectrum, or broad spectrum depends on your goals and consumption habits.

CBD isolate allows you to create your own preparations or increase the dosage of cannabidiol in a CBD product.

Broad spectrum or full spectrum CBD is well-suited for relieving your everyday ailments.

Note: Broad spectrum or full spectrum CBD has a longer-lasting effect than isolate, which has a shorter duration of effect.

CBD Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum, CBD Isolate: What Are the Differences?

Full Spectrum CBD

First and foremost, it’s important to know that Full Spectrum CBD comes from the complete extraction of the plant, meaning nearly all parts of the hemp plant are used (flowers, leaves, seeds, and small stems). This means that in addition to CBD, you will find other cannabinoids such as CBN, CBG, and more (there are over 140 other active molecules present in hemp), allowing you to benefit from all the active compounds present in this plant and their interactions, which is referred to as the ‘entourage effect’.

Broad Spectrum CBD

Firstly, it’s important to note that broad spectrum CBD oil is very similar to full spectrum CBD oil. The materials used are the same: hemp flowers, leaves, seeds, and stems, meaning there will be a complete extraction of the plant.

The only difference between these two types of oil lies in the process. To obtain broad spectrum CBD oil, an additional step is taken to remove the THC. With broad spectrum CBD oil, you will still benefit from the entourage effect (created by the interaction of different terpenes and cannabinoids) and the therapeutic properties of CBD oil on your body. The effects will vary depending on the percentage, for example, between 10% CBD oil and 25% CBD oil.

CBD Isolate

Contrary to full spectrum CBD, CBD isolate is a pure CBD extraction, meaning during the process, CBD is isolated from all other cannabinoids (hence its name). You will find a very high level of CBD in the isolate (often 99%) and it will be in the form of powder, derived from crystals obtained after extraction. Isolating a molecule with an active ingredient is a common procedure in pharmaceuticals. Indeed, this optimizes the effectiveness of CBD, however, you will not benefit from the positive interactions of all the cannabinoids present in hemp. So, what is this?

At Saveurs-CBD, we believe that we cannot definitively answer this question and that there is no general truth. It obviously depends on your tolerance to different cannabinoids (mainly CBD and THC), which itself depends on many factors (metabolism, age, gender, weight, etc.), but also on the dosage, especially of the isolate.

Indeed, an Israeli scientific study from 2015 on the anti-inflammatory potential of CBD (tests were conducted on mice) highlighted that CBD isolate is effective only with a precise dosage and in the short term, unlike full or broad spectrum CBD, which will be more effective over time.
